First release of Pixelmator WHOOHOO!
written by and filed under Resources. The brand spanking new Pixelmator is another member of the enjoyable generation software collection. So, this is an image editor app for OS X, utilizing Apples core image processing routines. Although it’s not a Photoshop replacement yet, it has the potential of becoming one very soon.

I’m a Photoshop user, so of course I’m used to the tools provided to me in that app. containing in that mode, Pixelmator was a no brainer, the menus and tools where almost exactly where I expected them to be located. With Pixelmator’s powerful, pixel-accurate collection of selection tools you can quickly and easily select any part of your images. That means you can edit and apply special effects to portions of your pictures, remove unwanted objects or even cut out objects from one picture to put on another. Other tools perform very well like the masks palette where you can even save your selections for later. It has the ability to use different brush sizes, shapes, hardness, and even blending modes when painting. Pixelmator is great, beautifully designed, easy-to-use, and a powerful image editor for Mac.
This is the first release of Pixelmator though, and it is slow… Photoshop is much faster and that is what matters. But as a whole I do believe that Pixelmator will become a Photoshop competitor in time. Check it out at www.pixelmator.com!
