I bumped into this site few days ago and after playing with it a little bit I realize that it is a powerful tool to use. In this website you can convert your bitmap images to vector images, an online auto-tracer if you will. Just upload your image and they will vectorize it for you.

The good thing is that you don’t need an expensive software installed in your computer. The website runs a powerful software created by James Diebel and Jacob Norda at the Stanford University. All you need is a good browser, Flash Player and an image to vectorize.

Let me show you how it works. Simply upload your desire picture to their website, it will prompt you to a new window where you can select the type of image you are uploading whether is a logo or photos. In my option I decided on for a photo, for those who want to know this is not my kid it is actually my nephew and someone told me it looks just like my brother in law, for real – poor kid? I love him though.

After selecting the type image the next step is the level of detail you would like to see for the final render.

Then you get to see the results, pretty good actually. If the image has too much detail it will give you few options afterward to change it for a medium or low reprocess or touch up small details. You can see even this being much better for logos and symbols the results are outstanding.
